Course overview

The SSI Wreck Diving specialty on the Perhentian Islands lets you explore one of South East Asia's most rewarding wreck clusters. Across local wrecks such as the 3,500-tonne Sugar Wreck and the shallower Police Wreck around 18 metres, you learn to survey, navigate and safely dive sunken vessels through SSI's digital training system.

• Survey a wreck and recognise common hazards
• Handle reels and guidelines for orientation
• Manage buoyancy, silt and entanglement risks
• Make sound decisions around limited penetration

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or Open Water Diver with experience (or qualifying certification)
• Good buoyancy control and navigation
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and first wrecks

   Digital knowledge review and your first dives surveying a local wreck such as the Police Wreck.
2. Day2
   Mapping and orientation

   Further dives practising orientation, reel work and limited penetration on the Sugar Wreck, then certification.
