Course overview

Earn the PADI Wreck Diver specialty on the Perhentian Islands, home to one of South East Asia's most accessible wreck collections. You log four dives on local wrecks including the 3,500-tonne Sugar Wreck and the smaller Police Wreck (a cluster of boats at around 18 metres), learning to survey, map and safely explore sunken vessels.

• Survey and map a wreck and identify hazards
• Use guidelines and reels for navigation along a wreck
• Avoid entanglement, silt-out and disorientation
• Make safe, considered penetration decisions where appropriate

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• Comfortable with buoyancy control and navigation
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and first wrecks

   Wreck-diving planning theory, then your first two dives surveying a local wreck such as the Police Wreck.
2. Day2
   Mapping and penetration

   Two further dives practising mapping, reel work and limited penetration on the Sugar Wreck, then certification.
