Frequently asked questions
Prerequisite?
SSI Advanced Open Water (or 10+ logged dives). Age 15+.
Will I go inside the wrecks?
Only into 'open' areas with continuous natural light to the exit and direct instructor supervision. True wreck penetration (out of natural light) needs the separate Wreck Penetration extended-range course.
Which wrecks?
Goa: Suzy's Wreck (28m), Davey Jones Locker, smaller barge wrecks. Conditions and visibility vary by season.
Best season for wreck visibility in Goa?
October–May, with November–March being peak. Visibility 8–15m typical. Monsoon (June–September) is closed.
Do I need a torch?
For penetration practice, yes — primary + backup torches are provided as part of the course. For your own future wreck dives, a primary dive light is a must-buy.
Are these wrecks historical?
Suzy's Wreck is a sunken barge with abundant marine life. Goa's wrecks are 'fish-friendly' wrecks — not war wrecks like Coron or the Red Sea — but they're excellent training environments.
