Frequently asked questions
How is this different from Deep Diving?
Deep Diving is no-decompression diving (you can ascend any time). Decompression Diving REQUIRES timed stops on ascent — different planning, different gear, much higher consequence if rushed.
Prerequisite?
SSI Advanced Open Water + Deep Diving + Enriched Air Nitrox + 25+ logged dives. Age 15+.
Is this where 'tech diving' starts?
Yes — Decompression Diving is the recreational/technical bridge. After this, you progress to Extended Range, full Trimix, etc.
What gear is required?
Stage cylinder for deco gas, dual-bladder BCD or sidemount, redundant computer. All rental for the course; ~₹2 lakh investment if you continue.
How risky is this?
Risk-managed, not risk-free. Skipping a deco stop is a serious incident. The course teaches conservative planning + emergency procedures.
How long are the typical deco stops?
Course dives use 5–15 minute total deco obligation, split across 6m and 3m stops. Real-world advanced deco can run 30–60+ min — covered in Extended Range courses, not this one.
