"Booked it on impulse, glad I did. The pace was right, the dives were memorable, and the cert is internationally recognised — I've used it on three trips since."

Frequently asked questions
What's a rebreather?
Standard scuba is open-circuit — you exhale into the water. Rebreathers recycle your exhaled gas (CO₂ scrubbed out, O₂ topped up). Result: silence, no bubbles, much longer bottom time.
Why would I want one?
Marine life ignores you (no bubbles), you breathe warm/humid air (more comfortable), you get 2–3× the bottom time, and the experience is profoundly different.
Prerequisite?
SSI Open Water + Advanced Open Water + 25+ logged dives. Age 18+ (rebreathers require maturity in dive planning).
Is this safe?
Rebreathers add complexity — there are more failure modes than open circuit. The Try SCR session uses a tame Mares Horizon SCR with instructor at arm's length. Not for first-time divers.
Can I continue to full rebreather diving?
Yes — book the SSI SCR Diving cert (full rebreather licence). Try SCR credits toward it.
How does breathing feel different from open-circuit?
Slightly warmer, slightly humid, no bubble noise. The first 5 minutes feel strange — by minute 10 most divers report it feels more natural than open circuit. Marine life gets noticeably closer.
