Plan a custom trip on WhatsAppPelagic thresher sharks spend their lives in deep open water — the only reason recreational divers ever see them is Monad Shoal, a seamount near Malapascua in the Philippines, where they rise to a 20-metre cleaning station every dawn.
It's the world's only reliable thresher encounter. Boats leave at 4am, you're in the water by sunrise, and the sharks pass within metres — sometimes for 30 seconds, sometimes for the entire dive. Their tail is half their body length and is used to stun fish.
Best months are Dec–May (calmer seas), but threshers appear year-round. Requires Advanced certification (depth) and good buoyancy (don't crowd the cleaning station).
Tell us when you can travel and your certification level — we'll match the right destination, the right season, and the right trip for diving with thresher sharks.
