Prerequisite?
SSI Open Water. Age 10+.
What if I get seasick?
Take Stugeron or similar 1 hour before boarding. Stay topside, watch the horizon. Once you're underwater, the seasickness disappears.
Why bother with a Boat Diving cert?
In India, almost every ocean dive is boat-based. This Specialty teaches the etiquette + safety procedures dive shops assume you know — gear handling on a moving deck, entry timing, current management.
What's a giant-stride entry?
You step off the boat with regulator in mouth, hand on mask, gear secured. We practice on-shore first, then on the boat. By dive 2 it's second nature.
What about back-roll entries?
Common on smaller boats — you sit on the gunwale, tank back, and roll backwards into the water. Awkward at first, then very natural. Both entry types are covered.
Is dive-flag etiquette real?
Yes — boats must display dive flags when divers are down, and other boats must give wide berth. Knowing the protocols protects you in busy dive areas.
