About seahorses

Seahorses are slow-moving fish that anchor with prehensile tails to seagrass, hydroids, or coral. Along with their pipefish and seadragon relatives (all family Syngnathidae), they're among the few animals where the male carries the pregnancy — fertilised eggs incubate in his pouch for 2–4 weeks before live birth.

Pygmy seahorses (under 2 cm) live on specific sea fan species — Bargibanti, Denise, Pontohi are the main targets. Common seahorses on seagrass beds. Lembeh and Anilao for macro variety, Komodo and Raja Ampat for pygmies.

Move slowly when photographing — they spook easily, and once they turn away from camera, they're hard to coax back.
