Course overview

Explore sunken structures safely with the SSI Wreck Diving specialty in Komodo, learning the planning, navigation and reel skills that wreck environments demand. Training around the area's dramatic relief and artificial structures sharpens your buoyancy and air management. You finish certified as an SSI Wreck Diver.

What you’ll learn

• Plan wreck dives with appropriate gas reserves
• Survey and navigate the exterior of a wreck
• Use a reel and guideline for limited penetration
• Maintain trim and avoid disturbing silt
• Configure equipment and lights for wreck diving
• Identify the hazards of overhead environments

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Open Water Diver or higher (Advanced Adventurer recommended)
• Sound buoyancy and navigation skills
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and survey dives

   Study wreck-diving planning and hazards via MySSI, then complete survey and navigation dives on local structures.
2. Day2
   Guidelines and certification

   Practise reel and guideline technique on the remaining dives, then certify as an SSI Wreck Diver.
