Course overview

Discover safe wreck diving with the SSI Wreck Diving specialty on Koh Tao, built around the HTMS Sattakut - a scuttled navy ship that has become one of the Gulf's signature artificial reefs. You learn to survey and navigate the wreck while marine life such as grouper, batfish and barracuda patrols its decks.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct safe wreck dives within recreational limits
• Survey and map a wreck's structure and hazards
• Use reels and guide lines for orientation and exit
• Maintain precise buoyancy to avoid silt and entanglement
• Understand wreck-penetration risks and emergency procedures
• Identify the life that colonises sunken structures

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent
• Deep Diving specialty recommended for deeper wreck profiles
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & wreck planning

   Complete the SSI digital wreck-diving theory and review reels, lines and survey techniques.
2. Day1
   Survey dives

   Dive the HTMS Sattakut to survey the wreck and practise mapping and line skills.
3. Day1
   Navigation dives

   Further dives refining orientation, reel use and limited-penetration line following on the wreck.
