Course overview

The SSI Wreck Diving specialty equips you to explore sunken structures safely, useful for the wrecks and artificial reefs found in the Maldives near Baa Atoll. Through SSI's digital training and dives to 30 metres from Dharavandhoo, you learn survey, mapping and line-work techniques for confident wreck exploration.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct wreck dives within recreational limits
• Survey and map a wreck and identify hazards
• Use guide and penetration lines correctly
• Maintain buoyancy and avoid stirring silt
• Select and handle dedicated wreck-diving gear

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent certification
• Comfortable with buoyancy and navigation
• Diver medical clearance form (physician sign-off if needed)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Survey & mapping dives

   Digital wreck theory plus dives focused on assessment, survey and mapping.
2. Day2
   Navigation & line work

   Further dives practising navigation, reel and line skills and limited penetration where appropriate, then certify.
