Course overview

The SSI Wreck Diving specialty in Alor builds the skills to explore sunken structures safely, from surveying and mapping to controlled line work. Over several dives you develop the techniques to dive Alor's wreck and structure sites with confidence while respecting the archipelago's strong currents.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and carry out safe wreck dives with the right gear
• Survey and map a wreck's layout
• Use reels and guidelines for orientation around a wreck
• Manage silt, light and gas to stay safe
• Recognise the hazards of corroded metal and entanglement
• Factor current into your approach and exit

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent
• Good buoyancy control, ideally with Perfect Buoyancy training
• Deep specialty recommended for deeper wrecks
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & survey dives

   Work through the SSI digital module, then survey and map a local wreck or structure on your first dives.
2. Day2
   Line work & mapping

   Practise reel and guideline technique on your final dives, timing the visit around Alor's currents.
