Course overview

The PADI Wreck Diver specialty in Alor teaches you to explore sunken structures safely, mapping, surveying and penetrating wrecks with proper lines and lights. Across four dives you build the techniques to dive Alor's wreck and structure sites responsibly while respecting the strong currents that sweep the archipelago.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute safe wreck dives with appropriate equipment
• Survey and map a wreck to understand its layout
• Use penetration lines and reels to navigate inside a wreck
• Manage light, silt and air to avoid hazards
• Spot the special hazards of aging structures and sharp metal
• Account for current when approaching and exiting a wreck

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
• Deep Diver specialty recommended for deeper wrecks
• Comfortable with buoyancy control in current
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & first wreck dives

   Cover wreck theory and hazards, then complete your first two dives surveying and mapping a local wreck or structure.
2. Day2
   Penetration & mapping

   Practise line-laying and limited penetration on your final two dives, accounting for Alor's currents on approach and exit.
