Course overview

Short on time? The SSI Scuba Diver certification gets you diving in North Malé Atoll faster, covering the first half of the Open Water course so you can dive to 12 metres under the supervision of a professional. You train in calm lagoons and on gentle house reefs and can upgrade to full Open Water Diver later.

• Set up and pre-dive check your scuba equipment
• Master essential skills like mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Achieve basic buoyancy control over the reef
• Communicate underwater with standard hand signals
• Dive safely to 12 metres with a professional

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• Comfortable in water and able to swim
• No prior diving experience or certification required
• Completion of a diver medical questionnaire; physician sign-off if any condition applies

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Pre-dive theory

   Complete the knowledge development and dive-planning material before the in-water sessions, online or at the dive base.
2. Day2
   Theory & confined water

   Complete the first knowledge sections and practise core skills in a calm lagoon.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives

   Apply your skills on two supervised reef dives to 12 metres, then certify.
