Course overview

The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course in Papua New Guinea trains you to anticipate, prevent and manage diving emergencies on the reefs of Kimbe Bay. Through realistic scenarios in sheltered island shallows and on the bay's biodiverse reefs, you learn to identify stress early, assist struggling divers and lead a confident response. The certification noticeably sharpens your awareness and self-reliance underwater.

The SSI Rescue Diver pathway

SSI Diver Stress & Rescue is SSI's core rescue rating and a prerequisite on the path to Divemaster. It pairs with the SSI React Right first aid and CPR programme, which can be completed alongside if you are not already current.

Where you'll dive in Papua New Guinea

Rescue skills are built in the sheltered, warm shallows of Kimbe Bay, with scenarios staged on calm bay reefs in 27-30°C water, giving a controlled setting to master each technique, best in the dry season from around May to October.
