The PADI Rescue Diver course in Papua New Guinea teaches you to prevent and manage dive emergencies while diving the reefs and channels of Kimbe Bay. Across a mix of scenarios in sheltered island shallows and on the bay's seamount reefs, you learn to spot trouble early, assist stressed or panicked divers and run a coordinated response. It is widely regarded as the course that makes divers more confident and aware.
PADI Rescue Diver is the certification before the professional levels and a prerequisite for Divemaster. It requires current Emergency First Response (CPR and first aid) training, which can be completed alongside the course if you are not already current.
Skills are practised in the calm, warm shallows around Kimbe Bay's islands, with full scenarios run on accessible bay reefs where 27-30°C water and gentle conditions let you focus on managing each emergency, ideal in the dry season from around May to October.
