Course overview

The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course in Hurghada teaches you to spot trouble before it escalates and to handle real emergencies on the surface and underwater. Using the calm shore reefs and day-boat sites of the Egyptian Red Sea, you rehearse stress recognition, diver tows and unresponsive-diver recovery in warm, forgiving conditions. The result is a calmer, more capable diver and a required step on the SSI professional pathway.

What you’ll learn

• Identify the early signs of stress and prevent diving accidents
• Manage panicked and tired divers at the surface
• Locate and recover an unresponsive diver from depth
• Give in-water rescue breaths and manage the boat exit
• Organise and lead a search for a missing diver
• Build confidence and composure for handling real incidents

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent, with the Navigation specialty
• Current CPR, first-aid and oxygen-provider (React Right) training, which can be added alongside
• Medical clearance to dive signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & React Right

   Work through the SSI digital theory and complete React Right CPR, first-aid and oxygen training if needed.
2. Day2
   Stress & rescue skills

   Practise stress recognition, diver tows and surface management in calm, shallow Red Sea water.
3. Day3
   Scenarios & certification

   Complete full missing-diver and unresponsive-diver scenarios on local reefs to earn the certification.
