Course overview

The PADI Rescue Diver course in Hurghada transforms you into a more confident, self-aware diver able to prevent and manage problems for yourself and others. Practising tired-diver tows, surface rescues and underwater searches on calm Red Sea reefs and from day boats, you learn to think like a rescuer in a forgiving, warm-water setting. It is widely described as the most rewarding course in recreational diving and is the gateway to professional training.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and manage stress and panic in yourself and other divers
• Perform self-rescue and tired-diver tows on the surface
• Search for and bring up an unresponsive diver from depth
• Deliver in-water rescue breaths and manage an exit to the boat
• Run a missing-diver search and coordinate an emergency response
• Plan for, prevent and react to common diving accidents

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver)
• PADI Adventure Diver with Underwater Navigation (or qualifying certification)
• Emergency First Response primary and secondary care within 24 months (can be completed alongside)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & EFR

   Complete knowledge reviews and, if needed, the Emergency First Response CPR and first-aid course.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Practise self-rescue, tired-diver tows and surface management in shallow, calm Red Sea water.
3. Day3
   Scenarios & certification

   Run full missing-diver and unresponsive-diver scenarios on local reefs to complete the certification.
