Course overview

SSI Diver Stress & Rescue trains you to identify, prevent and manage diving emergencies, and Fujairah's calm east-coast reefs are perfect for the hands-on scenarios. Practising at sheltered sites like Snoopy Island and Dibba Rock, you learn to recognise stress early, assist struggling divers and execute a rescue, finishing as a safer and more confident dive buddy.

What you’ll learn

• Identify and defuse diver stress before it escalates
• Assist tired, panicked and unresponsive divers on the surface and underwater
• Perform in-water rescue tows with rescue breathing
• Conduct a missing-diver search and surface recovery
• Coordinate an emergency response within the dive team
• Deliver first aid and emergency oxygen to an injured diver

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (junior rating under 15)
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or Open Water with navigation experience
• Valid React Right (or equivalent first aid and CPR) certification
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Academics & first aid

   Work through the SSI digital theory and confirm or complete your React Right first-aid training.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Practise stress recognition and rescue techniques in the calm shallows off Snoopy Island.
3. Day3
   Scenarios & certification

   Complete realistic rescue scenarios including a search at Dibba Rock to earn the rating.
