Course overview

Learn to anticipate, manage and resolve diving emergencies with the SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course in Cyprus, completing it ready to help yourself and others underwater and at the surface. Sheltered bays around Ayia Napa and Protaras, including beginner-friendly Green Bay, provide calm Mediterranean water to rehearse stress recognition and rescue techniques.

What you’ll learn

• Identify and prevent diver stress before it escalates
• Assist panicked and tired divers at the surface
• Conduct underwater searches and recover a missing diver
• Perform surface rescue breathing and tows to shore
• Administer emergency oxygen and manage an incident
• Strengthen your own self-rescue and dive-buddy skills

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (junior) or 15+
• SSI Open Water Diver (or equivalent) certification
• Current CPR and first-aid / SSI React Right provider rating
• Recommended prior dive experience
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and stress recognition

   SSI academics on stress and self-rescue skills in shallow water.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Practise tows, surfacing and assists in the calm shallows of Green Bay.
3. Day3
   Scenarios and certification

   Complete open-water rescue scenarios and earn the SSI certification.
