Course overview

Build the confidence to prevent and manage diving emergencies with the PADI Rescue Diver course in Cyprus, finishing able to assist others and respond to problems in and out of the water. The calm, clear Mediterranean and sheltered bays around Ayia Napa and Protaras, such as Green Bay, give a controlled setting to rehearse tiring rescue scenarios before applying them on deeper sites.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and manage diver stress before it becomes an emergency
• Respond to tired, panicked and unresponsive divers at the surface
• Search for and recover a missing diver
• Perform in-water rescue breathing and bring a diver ashore
• Manage oxygen delivery and coordinate an emergency response
• Build self-rescue skills and dive-team awareness

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver) or 15+ for Rescue Diver
• PADI Adventure Diver (or equivalent) with Underwater Navigation
• Emergency First Response primary and secondary care within 24 months
• At least 20 recommended logged dives
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and self-rescue

   Rescue knowledge sessions and self-rescue skills review in shallow water.
2. Day2
   Rescue exercises

   Work through the ten rescue exercises in the calm shallows of Green Bay.
3. Day3
   Scenarios and certification

   Complete the two open-water rescue scenarios and earn certification.
