Course overview

SSI Diver Stress & Rescue builds the awareness and skills to prevent and handle diving emergencies, taught among the calm reefs of Baa Atoll in the Maldives. Through SSI's digital learning and scenario dives near Dharavandhoo you learn to spot stress early, assist struggling divers and manage a real rescue. It marks the leap from recreational diver to confident dive buddy.

What you’ll learn

• Identify and manage stress in yourself and other divers
• Prevent accidents through better awareness and planning
• Assist tired and panicked divers at the surface
• Locate and recover an unresponsive diver
• Deliver in-water rescue breaths and manage an exit
• Coordinate an emergency response and oxygen administration

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior) / 15 (full certification)
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent, with relevant specialty experience
• Current CPR and first-aid training (or SSI React Right)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Digital theory & planning

   Complete MySSI stress-and-rescue modules and emergency-management planning.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Practise stress recognition and core rescue techniques in shallow water.
3. Day3
   Scenarios & certification

   Run full rescue scenarios on the reefs near Dharavandhoo and complete certification.
