Course overview

The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course in Alor builds the awareness and skills to prevent, recognise and manage diving emergencies, which matters in this current-swept Indonesian archipelago. You practise self-rescue and assists in the calmer bays near Kalabahi, then run realistic scenarios on local reefs to learn how to handle stress and emergencies in real conditions.

The SSI Rescue Diver pathway

SSI Diver Stress & Rescue is the SSI equivalent of a rescue course, delivered through the digital platform, and is a required step toward SSI Dive Guide and Divemaster. Current first-aid and CPR training such as React Right is a prerequisite.

Where you'll dive in Alor

Skills are practised in the protected bays near Kalabahi, then assessed through scenarios on local reefs where Alor's currents add realism to handling a stressed or missing diver during the April-to-November season.
