Course overview

The PADI Rescue Diver course in Alor turns you into a more aware, capable diver who can prevent and manage problems, a genuine asset in the archipelago's strong, shifting currents. Through scenario training in the calmer bays near Kalabahi and on local reefs, you learn self-rescue, how to assist a panicked or unresponsive diver, and how to coordinate an emergency at the surface.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and prevent diver stress before it becomes an emergency
• Perform self-rescue and manage your own air and buoyancy under stress
• Assist tired, panicked and unresponsive divers at the surface and underwater
• Search for and surface a missing diver
• Provide in-water rescue breaths and manage an exit
• Coordinate an emergency-response plan in current-prone Alor conditions

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver under 15)
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
• Emergency First Response primary and secondary care within 24 months
• Comfortable in water and able to manage current entries
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & self-rescue

   Complete the knowledge reviews and practise self-rescue and stress recognition in a calm bay near Kalabahi.
2. Day2
   Rescue exercises

   Work through the ten rescue skills, from tired-diver tows to surfacing an unresponsive diver.
3. Day3
   Scenarios & assessment

   Run full emergency scenarios on a local reef, applying current-management and exit planning before certification.
