Course overview

Earn your globally recognised diving licence with the SSI Open Water Diver course in Rasdhoo Atoll, where warm 27-30°C water, 25-metre-plus visibility and sheltered reefs make for an ideal classroom. Across about four days you progress from digital theory and confined-water skills to real open-water dives, finishing certified to dive to 18 metres with a buddy anywhere in the world.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, check and use complete scuba equipment
• Master all core safety skills including mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Achieve neutral buoyancy and controlled ascents
• Plan dives with a computer and a buddy
• Manage common problems and perform an emergency ascent
• Dive independently with a buddy to a maximum of 18 metres

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (junior) or 15
• Able to swim and be comfortable in open water
• No prior certification required
• Diver medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Digital theory & confined water

   Complete the SSI digital learning and first confined-water skills in the sheltered shallows by the island.
2. Day2
   Confined skills & first dives

   Finish confined-water skills, then the first open-water training dives on a calm reef such as Three Palm.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives

   Further open-water training dives building toward 18 metres at sites like Holhi Faru.
4. Day4
   Final dives & certification

   The final open-water dives and skills review, then digital certification.
