Course overview

Become a fully certified scuba diver with the PADI Open Water Diver course in Rasdhoo Atoll, the perfect place to learn thanks to warm 27-30°C water, 25-metre-plus visibility and sheltered reefs near the island. Over three to four days you progress from confined-water skills to open-water dives, finishing certified to dive to 18 metres anywhere in the world with a buddy.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, check and use complete scuba equipment
• Master all essential safety skills including mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Achieve neutral buoyancy and controlled ascents
• Plan dives with tables or a computer and a buddy
• Respond to common problems and perform a controlled emergency ascent
• Dive independently with a buddy to a maximum of 18 metres

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior) or 15
• Able to swim 200 metres and float/tread water for 10 minutes
• No prior certification required
• Diver medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & confined water

   Knowledge development and the first confined-water skill sessions in the sheltered shallows by the island.
2. Day2
   Confined skills & first open-water dives

   Complete confined-water skills, then the first two open-water training dives on a calm reef such as Veligandu East.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives & certification

   The final two open-water dives to 18 metres at sites like Holhi Faru, the exam, and certification.
