Course overview

Earn your licence to dive with the SSI Open Water Diver course in Raja Ampat, certifying you to dive independently to 18 metres worldwide. Learning through the SSI digital platform and the calm shallows near Mansuar Island, you complete four open-water training dives on the Coral Triangle's reefs and finish ready to explore this remarkable region.

What you’ll learn

• Set up, use and maintain scuba equipment
• Master all essential skills including mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Establish neutral buoyancy and balanced trim
• Plan dives using a computer or tables
• Manage common problems and air-sharing
• Dive independently with a buddy to 18 metres

Prerequisites

• No certification required to start
• Minimum age 10 (junior) or 15
• Basic swimming ability and water comfort
• Complete a medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Academics and confined water

   Complete the SSI digital theory and begin confined-water skills near Mansuar Island.
2. Day2
   Open-water dives 1-2

   Apply your skills on the first two open-water training dives on local reefs.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives 3-4 and certification

   Complete the final dives to 18 metres and earn your SSI certification.
