Course overview

Earn your SSI Open Water Diver certification at Nusa Penida and gain the qualification to dive independently with a buddy to 18 metres worldwide. After mastering the basics in sheltered water, you complete four training dives on Nusa Penida's calmer reefs, building the foundation that one day leads to Manta Point and Crystal Bay. SSI's flexible digital learning makes it an accessible first step into diving.

What you’ll learn

• Set up, use and maintain scuba equipment
• Perform core skills such as mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Achieve relaxed buoyancy and good trim
• Plan and execute dives with a buddy
• Handle common underwater problems calmly
• Dive safely to a maximum of 18 metres

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior) or 15 for Open Water Diver
• No experience or swimming certification required, basic water comfort needed
• Able to swim and float unaided as part of a watermanship check
• A medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Digital theory & confined water

   Work through the SSI digital academics and complete your first confined-water skills in sheltered shallows.
2. Day2
   Training dives 1 and 2

   Apply your skills on the first two open-water dives at calm reefs such as Sental and Sampalan.
3. Day3
   Training dives 3 and 4

   Finish the final two training dives and complete the exam to certify as an SSI Open Water Diver.
