Course overview

Become a certified diver with the PADI Open Water Diver course at Nusa Penida, the world's most recognised entry-level scuba certification, qualifying you to dive to 18 metres anywhere. You learn the fundamentals in sheltered shallows before completing four training dives on Nusa Penida's calmer reefs, building the foundation to one day explore Manta Point and Crystal Bay. It is the start of a lifetime of diving.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, use and care for scuba equipment
• Master essential skills including mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Control buoyancy and trim for relaxed, efficient diving
• Plan dives with a buddy using tables or a computer
• Respond to common problems and manage your air supply
• Dive safely to a maximum of 18 metres

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior Open Water Diver) or 15 for Open Water Diver
• No experience or swimming certification required, basic water comfort needed
• Able to swim and float unaided as part of a watermanship check
• A medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & confined water

   Complete the knowledge-development sections and your first confined-water skills in sheltered shallows.
2. Day2
   Training dives 1 and 2

   Apply your skills on the first two open-water dives at calm Nusa reefs such as Sental and Sampalan.
3. Day3
   Training dives 3 and 4

   Finish the final two training dives, sit the exam and earn your Open Water Diver certification.
