Course overview

Get certified to dive worldwide with the SSI Open Water Diver course at Netrani Island on Karnataka's Murdeshwar coast. Using SSI's flexible digital learning, you complete confined-water sessions and four open-water training dives on the island's reef, finishing qualified to dive to 18 metres with a buddy. You earn the globally recognised SSI Open Water Diver certification.

What you’ll learn

• Set up and use complete scuba equipment
• Master mask clearing, regulator recovery and buoyancy control
• Plan dives within recreational no-decompression limits
• Respond to common underwater problems
• Communicate and dive safely with a buddy
• Dive to a maximum of 18 metres as a certified diver

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior Open Water Diver)
• No prior certification required
• Able to swim and float/tread water comfortably
• Reasonable physical health and a completed diver medical questionnaire

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Digital theory & confined water

   Work through the SSI online learning and practise core skills in confined or shallow water.
2. Day2
   Skills & first open-water dives

   Complete confined-water skills and make your first two open-water training dives on Netrani's reef.
3. Day3
   Final dives & assessment

   Finish the remaining open-water dives, complete the assessment and certify as an SSI Open Water Diver.
