Course overview

Earn the world's most recognised scuba certification with the PADI Open Water Diver course at Netrani Island on Karnataka's Murdeshwar coast. Over confined-water sessions and four open-water training dives on the island's reef, you learn to dive independently with a buddy to 18 metres. You finish as a certified PADI Open Water Diver, qualified to dive anywhere in the world.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, check and use a full scuba kit
• Clear your mask, recover your regulator and manage buoyancy
• Plan dives within recreational no-decompression limits
• Handle common problems such as low air and cramps
• Communicate underwater and dive safely with a buddy
• Dive to a maximum of 18 metres as a certified diver

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior Open Water Diver)
• No prior certification required
• Able to swim and float/tread water comfortably
• Reasonable physical health and a completed diver medical questionnaire

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & confined water

   Complete the first knowledge sections and practise core scuba skills in confined or shallow water.
2. Day2
   Skills & first open-water dives

   Finish confined-water skills and make your first two open-water training dives on Netrani's reef.
3. Day3
   Final dives & exam

   Complete open-water training dives three and four, sit the final exam and certify as an Open Water Diver.
