Course overview

Become a certified diver with the SSI Open Water Diver course in Krabi, learning to dive independently to 18 metres on the warm Andaman reefs around Ao Nang through SSI's flexible digital system. Across confined water and four training dives at the local islands or Phi Phi sites, you build the skills to dive with a buddy worldwide. You finish a fully certified SSI Open Water Diver.

What you’ll learn

• Set up, check and care for scuba equipment
• Master core skills including mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Achieve neutral buoyancy and good trim
• Plan dives using a computer or tables
• Handle common underwater problems safely
• Dive independently with a buddy to 18 metres

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (junior) or 15
• No prior certification required
• Able to swim and comfortable in water
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Digital theory & confined water

   Work through the SSI digital training and first confined-water skills in calm shallows near Ao Nang.
2. Day2
   Open-water dives 1 & 2

   Apply your skills on the first two training dives at a local Andaman reef.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives 3 & 4

   Complete the final training dives, possibly at the Phi Phi sites, and earn your certification.
