Course overview

SSI Open Water Diver on Havelock certifies you to dive to 18 metres for life in the warm, biodiverse Andaman Sea. With small groups and unlimited confined-water practice, you'll build skills over Havelock's calm coral reefs where clownfish, parrotfish and turtles are common sights. It's a thorough, performance-based start to a lifetime of diving.

What you’ll learn

• Set up and use scuba gear confidently
• Master core in-water skills
• Control buoyancy and plan dives
• Handle problems and emergencies
• Dive to 18 metres with a buddy

Prerequisites

• Minimum 10 years old (junior under 15)
• Comfortable swimming and floating in deep water
• Medical clearance if any condition applies; Andaman rules cap diving age at 59 with clearance over 50

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Digital Theory

   Work through the SSI online knowledge sections.
2. Day2
   Confined Water

   Practise skills in shallow water until comfortable.
3. Day3
   Open Water Dives 1 & 2

   Dive a sheltered Havelock reef applying your skills.
4. Day4
   Open Water Dives 3 & 4

   Finish boat dives and certify.
