Course overview

Experience the reef transformed after dark with the SSI Night Diving specialty at Sipadan, diving the macro reefs off Mabul as nocturnal hunters emerge. You build light-handling, navigation and communication skills while watching octopus, cuttlefish, hunting moray eels and sleeping turtles in the beam of your torch. It is the perfect way to see the muck-diving heart of this Sabah region in a new way.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute safe night dives
• Handle primary and backup dive lights
• Signal and communicate with light after dark
• Navigate and hold orientation at night
• Stay with your buddy and manage entries in low light
• Spot and identify nocturnal marine life

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• SSI Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Comfortable buoyancy and basic navigation
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician
