Course overview

Experience a whole new side of Rasdhoo Atoll with the SSI Night & Limited Visibility specialty, exploring reefs that come alive once darkness falls and nocturnal predators take over. You will build the lighting, signalling and navigation skills to dive confidently after dark on familiar local reefs, finishing certified to enjoy night diving across the Maldives.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct night and limited-visibility dives safely
• Use dive lights and night communication signals
• Maintain orientation and navigate in the dark
• Manage entries, descents and ascents at night
• Spot and identify nocturnal marine life
• Keep buddy contact and buoyancy in low light

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (junior) or 15
• SSI Open Water Diver or equivalent certification
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & first night dive

   Night-diving theory and light-signal practice, then a first night dive on a familiar reef such as Holhi Faru.
2. Day2
   Night dives & certification

   Further night dives covering navigation and nocturnal life, then digital certification.
