Course overview

Discover Rasdhoo Atoll after dark with the PADI Night Diver specialty, exploring reefs that transform once the sun sets and nocturnal hunters take over. You will learn to dive safely at night using lights and communication signals on familiar local reefs, finishing certified to enjoy the very different marine life that emerges after dusk.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct night dives safely with proper lighting
• Use light signals and night communication with a buddy
• Navigate and maintain orientation in the dark
• Enter, descend and ascend safely at night
• Identify and observe nocturnal marine life
• Manage buoyancy and buddy contact in low visibility

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior) or 15
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & first night dive

   Night-diving theory and light-signal practice, then your first night dive on a familiar reef such as Veligandu East.
2. Day2
   Night dives & certification

   Two further night dives covering navigation and nocturnal marine-life observation, followed by certification.
