Course overview

Experience the Andaman reef after sunset with the SSI Night Diving & Limited Visibility specialty in Port Blair. Across a series of night dives near Chidiyatapu you build the torch skills, navigation and composure to dive confidently in the dark, while watching octopus, lionfish and other nocturnal life emerge. The certification reveals a completely different reef.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute safe dives in darkness and low visibility
• Use and signal with a dive light
• Navigate and stay oriented at night
• Maintain buoyancy and buddy contact in the dark
• Recognise nocturnal marine life and behaviour
• Respond to light failure and disorientation

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• SSI Open Water Diver or equivalent certification
• Comfortable with basic buoyancy and navigation
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Night dives

   Study night-diving theory and torch technique, then complete the night dives near Chidiyatapu, practising communication, navigation and nocturnal-life observation before certifying.
