Course overview

Experience the reef's nocturnal shift with the SSI Night Diving & Limited Visibility specialty in Komodo, learning to dive confidently in the dark. You master light handling, signalling and navigation while exploring familiar sites transformed after sunset. You finish certified as an SSI Night Diving specialist.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute safe night dives
• Handle primary and backup lights effectively
• Communicate with light signals in the dark
• Navigate and keep buddy contact at night
• Manage entries, descents and ascents in low light
• Spot and identify nocturnal marine life

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (junior certification)
• SSI Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and night dives

   Study night and low-visibility procedures via MySSI, then complete the night dives at calm reef sites, finishing with certification.
