Course overview

Discover a completely different ocean after dark with the PADI Night Diver specialty in Komodo, where reef life changes shift and hunters emerge under torchlight. You learn light handling, night navigation and communication, exploring familiar reefs transformed by darkness. You finish certified as a PADI Night Diver.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct safe night dives
• Use a primary and backup dive light effectively
• Communicate with light signals after dark
• Navigate and maintain buddy contact at night
• Enter, descend and ascend in low-light conditions
• Identify nocturnal marine life and behaviour

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Open Water Diver)
• PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

1. Day1
   Theory and night dives

   Cover night-diving planning and light technique, then complete the three night dives on calm reef sites, finishing with certification.
