Course overview

Experience a different side of the reef with the SSI Night Diving specialty on Kadmat Island. After dark the Lakshadweep atoll's reef shifts character as nocturnal hunters take over; you learn light handling, night navigation and buddy communication while exploring this hidden world over your training dives.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct a night dive safely
• Enter, exit and navigate the reef in darkness
• Manage a primary and backup light and light signals
• Communicate clearly with your buddy using torch signals
• Recognise nocturnal marine life and its behaviour
• Hold buoyancy and orientation with limited visual reference

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• SSI Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Comfortable basic buoyancy and navigation
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

   Complete the SSI digital theory and light-handling briefing, then dive Kadmat's reef after dark to watch the nocturnal life emerge.
