Course overview

Experience the reef after sunset with the SSI Night Diving & Limited Visibility specialty in Ambon on the Banda Sea, a region world-famous for nocturnal critter life. Through the SSI digital system you build light-handling, communication and orientation skills while watching the Ambon Frogfish and other night hunters appear, finishing certified to dive after dark.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct night and low-visibility dives safely
• Handle primary and backup lights and give light signals
• Keep orientation and navigate in the dark
• Communicate by light and touch at night
• Spot and identify nocturnal marine life
• Manage entries, exits and buoyancy in low light

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (junior)
• SSI Open Water Diver (or equivalent certification)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

1. Day1
   Theory & night dives

   Complete the MySSI night academics at dusk, then make the night dives on a local reef and certify.
