Course overview

Build precise underwater navigation skills with the SSI Navigation specialty on Gili Trawangan, valuable on the island's reef slopes and drift dives. Through training dives you learn compass and natural navigation to lead dives and reliably find your way back.

What you’ll learn

• Navigate with a compass on accurate reciprocal courses
• Read natural references like reef lines and ripples
• Estimate distance with kick cycles and timing
• Relocate underwater points of interest
• Lead a dive and return confidently to the exit

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• SSI Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Comfort with basic compass use
• Diver medical clearance where required
