Course overview

Master finding your way underwater with the PADI Underwater Navigator specialty on Gili Trawangan, useful on the island's reef slopes and gentle drift sites. Across three training dives you refine compass and natural navigation so you can lead the way and return to your boat with confidence.

What you’ll learn

• Navigate accurately with a compass on reciprocal headings
• Use natural references such as reef contours and sand ripples
• Estimate distance by kick cycles and timing
• Mark and relocate underwater points of interest
• Lead a dive and return reliably to the exit

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Comfort with basic compass use
• Diver medical clearance where required

   Navigation dives & certification

   Theory then three dives practising compass patterns, natural navigation and distance estimation on Gili reef sites, finishing with certification.
