Step up from guiding to teaching with the SSI Open Water Instructor programme in Papua New Guinea, based around the seamount-studded reefs of Kimbe Bay. Training in warm, sheltered water that holds more than half the world's coral species, candidates build and rehearse their teaching presentations before the SSI Instructor Evaluation. You finish authorised to certify SSI divers across the entry-level and continuing-education range.
SSI certifies you through an Instructor Training Course followed by an Instructor Evaluation conducted by SSI Instructor Trainers and Examiners. Once certified you register as an SSI professional, can issue recognised SSI certifications and access the SSI digital teaching platform.
Teaching practice uses the calm, warm waters of Kimbe Bay, where 27-30°C temperatures and biodiverse, sheltered reefs make an excellent setting to rehearse pool and open-water teaching, best in the dry season from roughly May to October.
