Cross from leading dives to teaching them with the PADI Instructor Development Course in Papua New Guinea, run from the coral-rich waters of Kimbe Bay on the New Britain coast. With seamounts rising almost to the surface and reefs holding over half the world's coral species, candidates rehearse confined- and open-water teaching in some of the planet's most biodiverse, sheltered water before sitting the independent Instructor Examination. You leave qualified to certify your own divers and join the global community of PADI professionals.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, conducted independently by a PADI Examiner. Passing the IE makes you a teaching member of PADI with a renewable instructor certification, access to professional insurance and the worldwide PADI jobs network.
Teaching workshops use the calm, clear waters of Kimbe Bay on New Britain, where warm 27-30°C water, sheltered island fringes and famously rich reefs make a forgiving environment to rehearse confined- and open-water teaching, ideally in the dry season from roughly May to October. The Instructor Examination is conducted separately by a PADI Examiner at a designated location.
