Cross from divemaster to teaching professional with the SSI Open Water Instructor programme in Komodo, training where reading currents and tides is part of daily diving. You rehearse teaching presentations in sheltered bays before applying real-world judgement on the National Park's seamounts and manta sites, completing the Instructor Training Course ready for the SSI Instructor Evaluation. The result is an SSI Open Water Instructor rating earned in one of Indonesia's most current-rich classrooms.
The SSI Instructor Training Course prepares you for the independent SSI Instructor Evaluation. On passing you earn the SSI Open Water Instructor rating, certified through the digital MySSI system with a recognised professional credential and the SSI dive-professional network.
Teaching practice runs from calm bays near Labuan Bajo to the Komodo National Park's reefs and seamounts, where candidates learn to manage students around tidal currents during the April-to-November dry season. The SSI Instructor Evaluation is held separately by an authorised SSI Instructor Certifier.
