Make the leap from guiding to teaching with the PADI Instructor Development Course in Komodo, one of Indonesia's most demanding and rewarding current-diving classrooms. Candidates rehearse teaching presentations in calmer bays before honing judgement on the high-flow seamounts of the Komodo National Park, finishing the IDC ready to sit the Instructor Examination and certify divers of their own. Training in a place where reading tides and currents is second nature gives you the situational awareness that defines a strong instructor.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is conducted independently by a PADI Examiner. Passing the IE makes you a teaching member of PADI with a renewable instructor certification, access to professional insurance and the worldwide PADI jobs network.
Teaching practice begins in calmer bays around Labuan Bajo and progresses to the renowned Komodo National Park sites, where guides learn to brief and supervise around real tidal currents from April to November. The independent Instructor Examination is conducted separately by a PADI Examiner at a designated IE location.
