Course overview

The SSI Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty certifies you to dive nitrox for longer no-decompression times, a real advantage on Koh Lanta's multi-dive day trips. With extended bottom time you can stay longer on the deep walls of Hin Daeng and Hin Muang or make relaxed back-to-back dives at Koh Haa with more conservative profiles. It is the most popular specialty among active divers.

What you’ll learn

• Understand the advantages and limits of enriched air nitrox
• Analyse the oxygen percentage in a nitrox cylinder
• Program a dive computer for enriched-air mixes
• Calculate maximum operating depth and oxygen exposure
• Plan longer no-decompression dives using nitrox
• Apply safe tank-handling and labelling procedures

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• SSI Open Water Diver or equivalent certification
• No prior nitrox experience required
• Diver medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & gas analysis

   Work through enriched-air theory via the SSI app, practise analysing cylinders and setting computers, then optionally apply nitrox on a local dive.
