Course overview

Begin your professional diving career with the SSI Dive Guide and Divemaster path in Phuket, leading on the Andaman Sea's warm, reef-rich sites like Shark Point and Racha Yai. You develop the dive-leadership, supervision and customer-care skills SSI professionals need before guiding certified divers in 27-30C water. The certification opens the door to the SSI professional ratings.

What you’ll learn

• Guide and supervise certified divers in open water
• Demonstrate all fundamental scuba skills to professional standard
• Conduct effective briefings, debriefings and dive planning
• Manage dive groups, logistics and emergency response
• Assist instructors during training programmes
• Apply SSI standards and dive-centre procedures

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent certification
• SSI Stress and Rescue (or equivalent rescue certification)
• Current first aid and CPR training
• At least 40 logged dives
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation and theory

   Programme briefing and SSI academic modules covering the dive-leadership role.
2. Day2
   Water-skills assessment

   Complete stamina swims, skill demonstrations and the rescue scenario.
3. Day3
   Mapping and guiding

   Map a reef and practise guiding and supervising divers at Racha Yai.
4. Day4
   Internship dives

   Assist and guide on boat trips to Shark Point and Anemone Reef.
5. Day5
   Practical assessment

   Demonstrate all skills and complete final exams and group-management exercises.
6. Day6
   Certification

   Logbook review and issue of the SSI Divemaster rating in your MySSI account.
