Course overview

Step into the dive profession with the SSI Divemaster rating in Muscat, gained on Oman's Daymaniyat Islands, Bandar Khayran and the reefs surrounding Fahal Island. Through SSI's flexible digital training and a hands-on internship you develop the guiding, briefing and supervision skills needed to lead certified divers in the Gulf of Oman. You complete the programme as a certified SSI Dive Guide ready for entry-level dive-industry work.

What you’ll learn

• Lead and guide certified divers safely on Oman's island and reef sites
• Plan dives accounting for tides, boat traffic and current at offshore sites
• Deliver thorough briefings and manage divers at the surface
• Demonstrate scuba skills to a professional standard
• Support instructors during SSI training programmes
• Apply dive theory, problem management and rescue skills as a leader

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent experience rating
• SSI Stress & Rescue (or equivalent)
• Current first aid and CPR / oxygen-provider training
• Minimum 40 logged dives to begin (60 recommended toward certification)
• Medical statement and physician sign-off where indicated

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Digital theory & orientation

   Complete SSI online modules, meet the team and review professional standards.
2. Day2
   Watermanship & demonstrations

   Stamina assessments and refining demonstration-quality skills in confined water.
3. Day3
   Mapping & scenarios

   Map a local reef and run navigation, deep and limited-visibility workshops.
4. Day4
   Guiding internship

   Guide certified divers and assist instructors on boat dives to the Daymaniyats and Bandar Khayran.
5. Day5
   Final assessment

   Theory exams, scenario evaluation and SSI Dive Guide certification.
